“There is no point where we can say: “This is enough.” Always seek finer music, finer performance. Eventually this will change from a learning attitude to a joyful quest which will last throughout our lives.”
- Shinichi Suzuki
Observation of Individual Lessons
Arrive early for your individual Suzuki violin lesson. I have an open studio policy and encourage observation of each other’s individual violin lessons. Suzuki encourages peer to peer learning. A lot can be learned by watching a more advanced student. And being observed has benefits also, building up confidence and performance tolerance nerves.
Take Notes and Videos during the Lessons
It is essential that you take notes and videos during your child’s lesson. Each lesson has a main point and you need to be clear on what that is during the week. I will approach that main point from many angles. If you want to come back next week having made the most progress possible, replicate daily the nuances of what we do during the lesson.
